As spring approaches we get the itch to get out of the house. Mini road trips are always fun when the weather clears up. And that’s going to happen soon. Promise.

Food chat at Crave
The Countryside Conservancy will be sponsoring its monthly Local Food Mixer from 7 to 10 p.m. Monday at Crave, 57 E. Market St., Akron.

Curiouser and curiouser
A Wonderland-like adventure awaits at Big Spring, a new event at the Cleveland Botanical Garden.
Oversize curiosities such as giant ladybugs and huge flowers are designed to enchant little ones, along with activities including an indoor hedge maze and a Toadstool Theatre. Grown-ups can enjoy thousands of spring flowers in bloom.
Big Spring is open daily through April 28, including today. The garden is at 11030 East Blvd. in Cleveland’s University Circle neighborhood.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays; and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. Admission is $12, or $8 for children ages 3 to 12. Members and younger children get in free.

Seize the ‘Thrones’
Game of Thrones, the epic drama based on a series of novels by George R.R. Martin, begins its third season at 9 tonight. It’s a tale full of betrayal and magic; of warring families and mighty battles (including one in the second season that made lists of the best TV episode ever), of vivid displays and subtle conversations. And a superb performance by Peter Dinklage. It is not, however, a series to just dive into — and even returning viewers are going to encounter new locations and characters this season. But you can find some primers on HBO.com, or just set the DVR tonight and work through the first two seasons’ DVDs and Blu-rays before settling in.
