Stan Hywet attractions

Garden Under Glass is one of the features of the new season starting Tuesday at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, 714 N. Portage Path, Akron.

The tropical garden, in the Corbin Conservatory, is part of the estate’s grounds admission.

Other attractions at Stan Hywet this year include:

• Inspiration in Bloom, a showcase of floral arrangements open next weekend starting Friday and again Oct. 3-6. The arrangements will be created by local floral designers and garden clubs and will be displayed throughout the Manor House.

• Inside Out, Outside In: Health, Fitness and the Bounty of the Land, Tuesday to Oct. 26. The exhibit in the Manor House highlights sports that were enjoyed on the estate in the 1920s.

• At Home With Nature: A Giant Habitat Experience, May through October in the historic gardens. The exhibit will feature interactive installations on a giant scale that visitors can walk inside and all around, including a bird’s nest, spider’s web and beehive.

• Beauty in Flight: Butterflies of North America, late June through early September in the butterfly habitat. This is the second year for the exhibit of living butterflies native to Ohio.

Stan Hywet is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. Admission closes at 4:30. Various tour options and prices are available.

Details are at www.stanhywet.org or 330-836-5533.
