Food notes: Tickets on sale for Canton’s premier food event

Tickets are on sale for the 21st Annual Celebrity Cuisine in Canton, sponsored by the Tri-County Restaurant Association to benefit Community Harvest.

The event is 5:30 to 8 p.m. April 23 at the Canton Memorial Civic Center and will feature food and drink samples from the association’s members, a list of nearly 50 restaurants, beverage suppliers and caterers.

Community Harvest is a charity that rescues prepared food that would normally be thrown away and transports it to sites to feed the hungry.

Tickets are $25 and may be purchased in advance from Tri-County Restaurant Association Office, 100 30th St. NW, Suite 102, Canton, 330-499-7007; at participating vendors; at Community Harvest; or at the door.

Wine tasting in Fairlawn

Winemaker Greg Graham will be at Regency Wine Sellers/Regency Wine Bar, 115 Ghent Road, Fairlawn, from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday for a tasting event featuring 10 of his wines, with appetizer pairings.

Graham has been making wine under his own label since 1992 and previously was a winemaker for Rombauer.

The event is $25. Reservations are required; phone 330-836-3447.

Taste of Tusc for Canalway

The Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition is sponsoring “Taste of Tusc” for sampling local foods, desserts, wines and beers from Tuscarawas County 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Warther Museum, 331 Karl Ave., Dover.

Vendors taking part include Breitenbach Wine Cellar, Raven’s Glenn Winery, Swiss Heritage Winery, Schoolhouse Winery, Hoppin’ Frog Brewery, Thirsty Dog, Bistro 131, Tuscarawas Family Farmers Market, Buehler’s, Union Country Club, Canal Tavern of Zoar, Canal Street Diner, Sugarfuse and Miller’s Creamery.

Advance tickets are $25 through Thursday at the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition; Buehler’s in Dover, New Philadelphia and Jackson Township; the Tuscarawas County Convention & Visitor’s Bureau; the Warther Museum and online at www.ohioeriecanal.org. Tickets can be purchased the day of the event for $35.

All proceeds benefit the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition and its efforts to develop the Ohio & Erie Towpath Trail in Tuscarawas County. For more information, call the coalition at 330-374-5657 or visit its website.
