Details about the Akron Home and Flower Show

The HBA Akron Home and Flower Show opens Friday and continues through the weekend at the John S. Knight Center, 77 E. Mill St.

The show will include exhibits, stage presentations, indoor gardens and an Eco Living experience highlighting sustainable living.

Lori Verderame, known as Dr. Lori, will do free antique evaluations onstage all three days of the show. Her appearances are scheduled for 3, 4, 6 and 7 p.m. Friday; 1, 4 and 5 p.m. Feb. 23; and 11 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Feb. 24.

Audience members can bring items for evaluation. No weapons are permitted, and all items must be carried by hand into the show.

Also featured onstage will be Matt Fox and Shari Hiller of the public TV series Around the House With Matt and Shari. They will make appearances at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Feb. 23 and at 1 and 4 p.m. Feb. 24.

Beacon Journal home writer Mary Beth Breckenridge and meteorologists Betsy Kling of WKYC (Channel 3) and Jeff Tanchak of WOIO (Channel 19) will meet visitors from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 23 in the featured gardens area.

Hours for the Home and Flower Show are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Feb. 23, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 24. Tickets are $8 at the door or $7 in advance at www.akronhomeandflowershow.com. Children 12 or younger will be admitted free.

Tickets can also be ordered through the websites of Catholic Charities, the Rotary Club of Akron and Habitat for Humanity of Summit County. The nonprofits will receive a portion of proceeds from those ticket sales.

The show is sponsored by the Home Builders Association Serving Portage & Summit Counties.
