Rabies vaccination clinics — Summit County Public Health is offering low-cost rabies vaccinations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Fairlawn Public Service Department, 3300 Fairlawn Service Drive. Vaccinations for dogs and cats cost $8 per animal.

PAWSibilities, Humane Society of Greater Akron “Fall in Love” Adopt-a-Thon — 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 4 at the shelter at 7996 Darrow Road in Twinsburg. Come see adoptable animals, tour the facility. Refreshments throughout the day. Adoption fee for dogs (over 6 months of age) will be only $55, cats (over 6 months) will be only $5, and kittens under 6 months old will be $20 (upon application approval). All animals are spayed and neutered, dogs and cats are up to date on vaccines, micro-chipped and include a 30-day free trial of pet insurance through 24Pet Watch Pet Insurance. Westie Club of Northern Ohio Fall Picnic — 6:30-9 p.m. Oct. 10 at Ottawa Point Picnic Shelter Brecksville Metro Parks, off Meadows Drive in Brecksville Reservation. One of a Kind Pet Rescue Chase Your Tail 5k Run/Walk — Part of the Ohio Challenge Series, 9-11 a.m. Oct. 19 event has two options: a 5k run/walk (humans only) timed by RS Racing Systems, or a 1-mile non-timed walk with your dog. Both options begin and end at Summit Lake Community Center, and will be run on both the road and the towpath, taking participants on the floating Towpath Trail across the middle of Summit Lake. Register online at www.oneofakindpets.com/5k with a credit card. Preregistration by 3 p.m. Oct. 17 is $25 and race day registration is $30. Race day registration and packet pickup will begin at 7:30 a.m. at Summit Lake Community Center, 380 W. Crosier, Akron.

2nd annual Medina County SPCA Paws for the Cause Walk/5K Run and 1-Mile Fun Run — Oct. 25 at the historical Medina Square. Race-day registration and packet pickup starts at 7:30 a.m. with race time at 9 a.m. $25 for an adult, $15 for a child, pets are free if you register online/mail by Oct. 22.
