You can learn about the feathered inhabitants of Secrest Arboretum near Wooster during a Guided Bird Walk from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday.

Members of the Greater Mohican Audubon Society will lead birders of all skill levels in spotting birds, learning their calls and discovering their habitats. It’s one of a series of periodic walks the society leads at the arboretum.

Participants should dress for the weather and meet at the Seaman Orientation Plaza. Parking and admission are free.

Secrest Arboretum is on the campus of the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center, 1680 Madison Ave., Wooster Township. For more information, call 330-464-2148 or visit http://secrest.osu.edu.

‘Big Lebowski’ returns

Dig out the Medina Sod shirt and head to local cinemas for showings of The Big Lebowski, the trippy Coen brothers comedy starring Jeff Bridges (who does indeed sport a bowling shirt from the local sod company in one scene).

The movie, which turned 16 in March, has gained admirers since its initial, tepidly received theatrical run. This latest viewing may be bittersweet for some fans, since Lebowski made at least one critic’s list of the best performances by Philip Seymour Hoffman after the actor died in February.

But how many movies can boast the Coens, being ranked among the best bowling movies ever made — and having the most inspired use of a Kenny Rogers song found onscreen?

Showings are at 2 p.m. Sunday and 2 and 7 p.m. Wednesday in Cinemark Valley View, Tinseltown USA in Jackson Township and Regal Crocker Park. See www.fandango.com for tickets.

Football is back!

On Sunday night, following the weekend enshrinement of seven brand-new pro football hall of famers, the first preseason game of 2014 will happen at Fawcett Stadium (Earl Schreiber Circle Northwest, Canton).

The Hall of Fame Game will be played by the New York Giants and the Buffalo Bills, and it will be awful. Nevertheless, the game begins at 8 p.m. Sunday.

Tickets are $54-$74; get more information at 330-456-8207, www.profootballhof.com. It will also air on NBC.
