Judge Elinore Marsh Stormer to receive Spirit Award from Stewart’s Caring Place

Stewart’s Caring Place Cancer Wellness Center will honor Summit County Probate Judge Elinore Marsh Stormer with its first Spirit Award for her service to community on July 19 at the Butterfly Gala.

The annual fundraiser benefits the nonprofit organization in its mission to provide services to more than 1,000 people affected by cancer each year. It will take place at the Golf Improvement and Event Center, 116 Medina Road in Medina. The event will include a raffle, silent and live auctions and dinner catered by Beau’s Grille. Live entertainment will be provided by harpist Kimberly Flett and funk band Get on Up.

Individual tickets for the gala are $150 and can be purchased at www.StewartsCaringPlace.org or by calling Jeannine Marks at 330-836-1772.

Stewart’s Caring Place began as a grass-roots effort led by the family and friends of Dr. Stewart Surloff, whose battle with cancer ended in 2001. During his life, Surloff shared his experiences of living with cancer to help others struggling with the illness. The cancer wellness center carries on Surloff’s legacy by offering free support services to people whose lives are affected by cancer. Programs include lectures and workshops, a resource center, healing arts, community referrals, counseling, attorney consultations, support groups and wigs.
