Never enough reasons for indulging your ice cream appetite? No problem. Southern Living magazine’s team has packed dozens into Scooped: Ice Cream Treats, Cheats, and Frozen Eats (Oxmoor House, $19.95, at bookstores nationwide).
There are a few ideas for ice cream socials, several made-from-scratch ice creams (i.e., caramelized fig, blackberry lemon) and lots of clever ideas for tiny eats, shakes and big treats, many using store-bought ice cream. A tequila-spiked margarita pie with a pretzel crust and a lemon meringue ice cream pie made by swirling lemon curd into vanilla ice cream got our attention.
