Turn on the Nightlight
Downtown Akron gets its first full-time movie theater in about 30 years on Tuesday when the Nightlight Cinema opens on North High Street.
The theater, which will specialize in independent films, launches with showings of Only Lovers Left Alive at 7 and 9:30 p.m. The vampire tale comes from director and former local resident Jim Jarmusch.
Tickets for films will be $8.50, and for now will be on sale only at the 50-seat theater. It will also offer refreshments. After 6 p.m., you can park free by meters along North High Street in front of the theater, and in the High Street municipal garage across the street from the entrance of the Akron Art Museum, and adjacent to the Akron-Summit County Public Library.
Rich Heldenfels and Malcolm X Abram talk more about the Nightlight in “Two Guys Talkin’ ” at http://videos.ohio.com.
