The To-Do List — Week of June 22

I scream, you scream ...

Treat your taste buds at Sundaes on Thursday, a free ice cream social from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday on the Medina Public Square.

Participants of all ages can build their own sundaes and enjoy an evening of family entertainment, including carnival games, crafts and a scavenger hunt.

The event is sponsored by the Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities. It’s designed to generate community awareness and promote inclusion of people with disabilities.

Get away to the garden

Stroll through seven gardens during the Twinsburg Garden Club’s 2014 Garden Tour, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Tickets are $8 in advance at Richner Hardware and the Twinsburg Senior/Community Center. On tour day, they can be purchased for $10 at the Stone House adjacent to Liberty Park, 9207 Liberty Road.

Rain date is June 29. Details are at www.twinsburg-garden-club.com.

Corleone times two

It’s time for what has become virtually an annual event: the showing of The Godfather on the big screen again.

And this time showings will double the action, pairing The Godfather with The Godfather Part II for presentation today and Wednesday.

Cinemark theaters — including Valley View and the Jackson Township Tinseltown USA — will show the 1972 classic at 2 p.m. Sunday, followed by its equally impressive 1974 sequel at 7 p.m., then repeat the event at the same times on Wednesday. Regal Crocker Park will have the same schedule.

The two films, inspired by Mario Puzo’s novel, rank among the best of all time. The American Film Institute’s list of the 100 best films has The Godfather at number 2 (behind only Citizen Kane) and Part II in 32nd place. For that matter, the first film’s “I’m gonna make him an offer he can’t refuse” was ranked the second best line of all time in a movie by AFI. (Gone With the Wind had the best one.)

Sole obsession

Are you a sneaker collector? One of those people who stands outside a sneaker store just so you can be among the first to get the new (place name of favorite athlete here) special limited-edition shoes? Well, throw on a pair and head up to the Cleveland’s Got Sole 4 showcase beginning at noon today at Quicken Loans Arena, One Center Court, Cleveland.

Thousands of sneakers, both new and classic, will be on display and for sale. Some of the proceeds will be donated to the Children’s Tumor Foundation. Tickets are $10. Go to www.theqarena.com/ for more information.
