CLEVELAND: A marriage annulment is now free in the eight-county Catholic Diocese of Cleveland.
According to information released on Wednesday, the diocesan marriage tribunal will no longer charge fees for marriage annulment cases, marriage dispensations and marriage permissions. The typical cost of a marriage annulment in the diocese has been about $450.
Cleveland diocesan Bishop Richard G. Lennon said it is his hope that the new policy will eliminate monetary concerns and encourage people in marital situations that include divorce and remarriage to continue practicing their faith. Anyone awaiting a final decision by the tribunal will have their balances waived.
The diocese includes Summit, Wayne, Medina, Ashland, Lorain, Cuyahoga, Lake and Geauga counties.
