In Your Shoes: The Sophia Capo Memorial Foundation Charity Event — 5:30-9:30 p.m. at the Barrel Room, 7901 Cleveland Ave. NW, North Canton. Proceeds from Help Us, Help Hearts Charity Event will go toward improvements to the Cleveland Clinic children’s playroom to benefit pediatric heart transplant patients and families. Event will feature Ohio State football players, silent auction, entertainment and food. The foundation helps educate parents about the importance of early detection of congenital heart defect and intervention. Sophia Capo died in June 2012. An Evening of Civil War Music With Steve Ball — 7 p.m. at McKinley Presidential Library & Museum, 800 McKinley Monument Drive NW, Canton. The concert will feature Civil War music performed as it sounded in the 1860s on a Civil War-era guitar. Ball will display a collection of pre-Civil War guitars and sheet music. The concert is a fundraiser to help buy a diamond tiara that belonged to first lady Ida McKinley. The deadline for fundraising for the tiara purchase is June 24. Friends of Wadsworth Trails Pancake Breakfast and Historical Hike Fundraiser — June 7 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 148 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth. Kent Historical Society Town and Garden Tour — 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The tour, which will also be held from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, will feature historic homes, gardens and buildings within walking distance of downtown Kent. Proceeds will support the Kent Historical Society’s efforts to restore the Erie Depot on Franklin Avenue where the Pufferbelly Restaurant is located. Books for Africa Library Project’s Annual Fundraising Dinner — 5:40 p.m. in the St. Bernard/St. Mary Church Historical Room, Broadway and State streets, Akron. Kirt and Hilda Bromley will present a short video and describe their recent mission efforts to build libraries in West Africa, followed by the Largely Literary Theater Company’s presentation of a 45-minute version of its two-person show Shades of Blue and Gray: Ghosts of the Civil War. Daniel “Nate” Deyarmin Jr. Memorial Benefit Run and Car, Truck Show — Tallmadge Middle School, 484 East Ave. The Motorcycle Poker Run will begin with first bike out at 10:30 a.m., last bike in at 5 p.m. Cost is $15 for driver and $10 for passengers. The car/truck show will begin at 2 p.m. with registration at 1 p.m. Fee is $15. Entertainment will be provided by the Legends Band and DJ Man Entertainers.
