The Scene: Vintage Jackson for Rotary Club

The Rotary Club of Jackson Township held its 12th annual Vintage Jackson at Shady Hollow Country Club Thursday evening. Todd Frank, Lisa Parramore and Steve Gosney greeted more than 300 guests for the event that featured Italian wine tasting.

Jose Medina, who chaired the event with Aletha Carver, said funds would go toward the expansion of the Paul & Carol David YMCA. Rotary treasurer Greg Blasiman expected the event would raise $20,000.

Abraham McCune, wine steward from Gervasi Vineyards, served Bellina chardonnay and pinot grigio, both recent gold medal winners. Terry and Kay Seeberger and Dr. Ted Rath, Ric and Victoria Brown enjoyed the tasting. At the cheese table, Mona Mercina sampled cheese from the Biery Cheese Co.

Melissa Presutti and Cindy Pfaus recommended the Mionetto moscato served by Tom Finie. Mark Nichols of Heidelberg Distributing Co. offered cabernet sauvignon, while Stephen Ellison of Thirsty Dog Brewing Co. offered a variety of beers.

Executive Chef Angus O’Hara of Shady Hollow Country Club served beef tenderloin and deep-fried turkey topped with a fruits of the forest compote. Enjoying the buffet were Brenda Crouse and her daughter, Dr. Abbey Crouse.

Guests bid on an array of baskets in the silent auction, including John and Tena Wilson, Nate and Gloria Pope, Traci and Dean Langfitt.

Jim Ondrus, president of the Jackson Rotary, said the group recently donated $30,000 for the expansion of the Jackson Township Library, and annually awards $4,000 in scholarships to graduating Jackson High School seniors.
