Rabies vaccination clinic — Canton City Health Department is offering low-cost rabies vaccinations for Stark County residents’ cats, dogs and ferrets. Pets can be vaccinated 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the Stark County Fairgrounds in the Wildlife Building, 305 Wertz Ave. NW, Canton. Cost is $7 per pet, cash only. Pets must be leashed or in a carrying cage, at least 3 months old and in good health. Vaccinations will be administered by veterinarians, assisted by Public Health Department and Dog Warden staff and volunteers. Stark County dog licenses will be available for purchase. Rabies vaccination clinics — Summit County Public Health is offering low-cost rabies vaccinations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 3 at Sagamore Hills Park Service Garage, 11550 W. Valley View Road and at the same times May 10 at Springfield Township Fire Station, 2459 Canfield Road. Pet Guards will administer the vaccination for dogs and cats for $8 per animal. Other vaccines and services will also be provided at reduced prices.

Hooked on Fishing Day — Rain or shine fishing event for youths age 15 and younger from 8 to 11 a.m. May 3 at North Park Pond, 7660 Fulton Road NW, Jackson Township. Children should bring their own poles and bait to the pond stocked for the event. There will be a Kids Casting and Big Fish as well as other contests. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times during the event. For more information, call 330-832-2845. Registration required by May 2.

Bark in the Park Pledge Walk & Pet Expo— 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 10 at Springfield Lake Park, 2459 Canfield Road. One-mile walk for pets and their humans to aid PAWSibilities, Humane Society of Greater Akron. Registration begins at 11 a.m. and the walk begins at noon. Registration fee is $5. Children under 12 are free. There is no fee for pets. Proceeds go to help animals that are victims of cruelty/neglect, illness/injury, and provide adoption services, education & community outreach programs.
