Master gardeners wanted

Thinking about becoming a master gardener?

An open house will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. May 1 for those interested in becoming involved in the Summit County branch of the statewide master gardener volunteer program. The open house will be at the Ohio State University Extension office at 2525 State Road, Cuyahoga Falls.

The program will begin accepting applications that evening.

Volunteers undergo intensive training in horticulture and then help county extension personnel provide educational programs and services.

To register for the open house, contact program coordinator Danae Wolfe at Wolfe.540@osu.edu or 330-928-4769, ext. 17.

Volunteer at Hale Farm

Volunteers are sought to help with the restoration of the Goldsmith Garden at Hale Farm & Village.

The work will involve a variety of gardening and construction tasks. Volunteers do not need to be skilled gardeners. However, volunteers with skills in woodworking, painting, plumbing and general maintenance are needed.
