This recipe is from my grandmother. These cookies were my mom’s favorite growing up and I loved them as well. When I was young, I developed a reaction to nuts, so my mom began making them without the pecans in the original recipe. And they are just as good.
CHRISTMAS CRESCENT COOKIES
2 sticks unsalted butter
2 cups flour
5 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. water
½ tsp. salt
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Cream butter; add sugar, vanilla and water and combine. Sift flour and salt together and stir into mixture. Mix thoroughly. Using a portion about the size of a small walnut, roll into crescent-shaped cookies. Bake about 20 minutes.
While the cookies are still warm, roll in confectioners’ sugar.
Makes about 3 dozen.
