Ceremony in Kenmore
Kenmore will honor three of its all-time football greats at a ceremony before Saturday’s home game against Firestone.
• The field house at Kenmore High School’s stadium will be named for coach Dick Fortner, who led the Cardinals to a 58-25-4 record in the 1960s and 1970s, including two City Series championships.
• The press box will be named for Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic, a 1967 Kenmore graduate and star quarterback.
• The ticket booth will be named for Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinee Cliff Battles, a 1928 Kenmore graduate.
A dedication ceremony will be at 11:30 a.m. at the stadium at 12th Street Southwest and Silvercrest Avenue in Akron. The game will kick off at noon.
