Fun in Cuyahoga Falls

The 34th annual Cuyahoga Falls Oktoberfest begins Friday and runs through Sunday.

Oktoberfest was the first festival held on the Front Street Mall (now Riverfront Square). It started a tradition of events that includes Rockin’ on the River, the Irish-American Festival, the Italian-American Festival, the Rib Roast and others.

Classic Woody Allen

Woody Allen is once again in the middle of Oscar talk thanks to Blue Jasmine and the lead performance by Cate Blanchett.

But any discussion of Allen’s best work has to include Manhattan, the grim but romantic black-and-white epic that will be shown at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Cedar Lee as part of Cleveland Cinemas’ “7 From the ’70s” series. That weekly presentation of vintage movies began Sept. 4 with Mean Streets and continues after Manhattan with Nashville, Barry Lyndon, Dirty Harry, Chinatown and The Exorcist.

Art in the Park

Dozens of artists will display and sell their work during Art in the Park from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Fred Fuller Park in Kent.

The art festival includes entertainment, a children’s art area and food in addition to booths displaying paintings, pottery, fiber arts, jewelry and more.

The park is on Middlebury Road south of state Route 59. Admission and parking are free.
