Learn to tell birches from beeches at two workshops being offered by the Ohio Woodland Stewards Program.
Name That Tree will be held Sept. 27 at Secrest Arboretum in Wayne County’s Wooster Township. Winter Tree ID will be offered Nov. 1 at the Lodge at Allardale in Medina County’s Granger Township.
Both full-day programs provide in-depth training and practice on identifying trees using leaves and other characteristics. Indoor classroom work and outside practice are included.
Cost for each is $35.

Cleveland building tours
Two tours of buildings designed by Cleveland architect Charles Schweinfurth are being offered by the Cleveland Artists Foundation.
On Sept. 15, two properties will be open: Schweinfurth’s own home and the Montessori High School, formerly the Staub/Russell Home. The Schweinfurth house will be open from 1 to 3 p.m. and the high school from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Then, on Oct. 20, the Shoreby Club will be open for a tour from 2 to 4 p.m. The Bratenahl club was originally the home of Cleveland industrialist Samuel Mather.
Tickets are limited. Cost for each date is $30 for foundation members and $35 for others. Details are in the News & Events section of www.clevelandartists.org.
