NautiVine Winery has opened on the banks of Miller Lake in Green, at the former Bob’s Lake Bar.
Owners are Erica Antoniotti and Joe Wathy.
The winery offers five reds and five whites, as well as wine slushies and its own homebrewed craft beer, Mucky Duck Ale, which comes in four kinds, W.T.M. (What the Muck), Muckraker, Run-A-Muck and Mud Light.
Hours of operation are 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 4 to 11 p.m. Friday and noon to 11 p.m. Saturday.
Figaro Farms supplies the food, which includes veggie plates, cheese and crackers, hummus and other snacking fare.

Food fest in Peninsula
The Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, the Countryside Conservancy and the Peninsula Foundation are hosting a celebration of local food and farming in the Cuyahoga Valley on Sunday.
Local Food Fest: A Homegrown Gathering will take place throughout the village throughout the day.
Local food and farm vendors will be selling on the green at Bronson Church, 1712 Main St. (State Route 303), from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Heritage Farm, 6050 Riverview Road, will be hosting its History Day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and tours of five Cuyahoga Valley Countryside Initiative Farms will take place at 11 a.m., noon, and 1 p.m.
Events conclude at the Home Grown Evening at the GAR Hall, 1785 Main St. (corner of Ohio Route 303 and Riverview Road) at 4 p.m. There will be local wine, beer and cheese to taste. Cuyahoga Valley National Park ranger Rebecca Jones Macko will tell stories of farming in the valley from centuries ago, and chef Ben Bebenroth of Spice Kitchen & Bar will discuss the importance of local food with a cooking demonstration.

Food truck round up
WAKR AkronNewsNow is hosting a food truck roundup for lunch on Aug. 9, beginning at 11 a.m.
Food Truck Friday will feature the Orange Trük, Sushi on the Roll, Wholly Frijoles, the Stone Pelican and Zydeco Bistro at the headquarters of Rubber City Radio Group, 1795 W. Market St., Akron.
The event is part of the radio station’s push to help get food trucks legalized in Akron.
Ice cream eating contest
Portage Lakes favorite Pav’s Creamery is hosting its first ever Ice Cream Eating Challenge from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 10.
It’s all for a good cause; proceeds benefit the March of Dimes. It’s $20 to enter, $5 just to go and enjoy appetizers and an ice cream sundae bar and take part in a raffle. Contest participants must register in advance, others may purchase tickets at the door.
The champion in each of three age groups wins a year’s supply of Pav’s ice cream.

Chefs dinner for a cause
Chefs are teaming up for Six Courses for a Cure on Aug. 9 at the Sheraton Suites Akron/Cuyahoga Falls to raise money for the Meredith A. Cowden Foundation. The foundation supports research into graft-versus-host disease, a complication of bone marrow transplants used to treat leukemia patients.
Chefs taking part include Roger Thomas, executive chef of the Sheraton Suites; Bill Thurman of Beau’s on the River; Rick Carson of Nosh Eatery & Creative Catering; Brian Doyle of SowFood; Josh Schory of Lucca; and Ken Bogucki of The Wooster Inn. Each course will be paired with wines from Carter Cellars, 3 Finger Wine Co., PerryMoore Wines and Vision Cellars.

Cheese makers unite
The inaugural meeting of the Ohio Cheese Guild is set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Malabar Farm, 4050 Bromfield Road, Lucas.
The Ohio Cheese Guild is a new organization dedicated to the success of all Ohio cheese makers through education, events and networking.
The meeting is free and open to the public. Those who make cheese in Ohio, purchase it for retail and restaurant distribution, and support regional food artisans are encouraged to join.
It will include cheese tasting and networking opportunities. Jean Mackenzie, owner of Mackenzie Creamery in Hiram Township, is the founder of the organization.

Youth farmers market
Kids from the Harvest of Hope Children’s Community Garden program of Let’s Grow Akron will be selling their produce every Friday from 10 a.m. to noon at South Main Street and West Miller Avenue in Akron.
They’ll have vegetables, herbs and flowers for sale.
