The To-Do List — week of July 28

Have a fair time

Visit the Ohio State Fair, which runs through Sunday, Aug. 4, in Columbus.

This year at the fair you’ll find Maple Bacon ice cream, a new flavor by Velvet Ice Cream of Utica, created for the fair and sold there exclusively. The creamy maple ice cream is swirled with maple-coated bacon pieces and is inspired by Ohio’s rich agricultural history.

For complete fair schedules and details, visit www.ohiostatefair.com.

Homes on parade

Searching for your dream home? The Portage and Summit Counties Parade of Homes is a good place to start.

The parade, open today and next weekend, features 17 new homes and one house that was extensively remodeled. The homes are scattered around the region, so you need to visit http://akronhba.com to find the addresses and plan your tour. Photos, descriptions and prices of the homes are on the site to help you narrow your choices.

The homes are open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Aug. 3 an 4. Admission is free.

The event was organized by the Home Builders Association Serving Summit & Portage Counties and showcases the work of its members.

Kelly Miller Circus

The Hartville Hardware is sponsoring the Kelly Miller Circus on the grounds of the Hartville MarketPlace, 1289 Edison St. NW, on Thursday and Friday.

There are two shows daily, beginning at 4:30 p.m. and again at 9 p.m.

Tickets are available at Clearwater Park, Hartville Hardware, Hartville MarketPlace, and VitaNet at a cost of $10 for adults and $6 for those 12 and under. Tickets purchased on circus day are $15 and $7.

For more information, call 330-877-5500, email president@lakechamber.com, or visit www.discoverhartville.com/kelly-miller-circus.

Burlesque on stage

So you like to see nearly naked ladies wiggle and writhe, and hear bawdy old-school vaudevillian humor? Well, head to the Beachland Ballroom on Friday, and witness day one of the three-day International Ohio Burlesque Festival.

Among the talented dancers from around the world slated to appear are Peggy De Lune from London, the Boston Baby Dolls, St. Paul, Minn.’s Opiumm Hayze, and Vikki Fahrenheit from Las Vegas. The evening will be hosted by Gilgamesh Taggett and Mr. Scratch from Boston.

Tickets are $17-$30 and can be purchased online at www.ohioburlesque.com.
