Tour backstage at Civic

Ever wonder what’s behind the scenes? Here’s your chance to find out.

Take a free tour of the Akron Civic Theatre, 182 S. Main St., at noon Tuesday and learn about its history and other fascinating details.

There are no guarantees that the ghosts will show up during the tour, which lasts about an hour and 15 minutes, but you never know.

If you can’t make it this Tuesday, other tours are offered throughout the year. To learn more, visit www.akroncivic.com.

See Jonases grow up

The Jonas Brothers are trying to outgrow the “teen dream” phase of their career and graduate into a grown-up pop-rock trio. See how the delicate transition is going when Nick (the musical mastermind), Joe (the cute one) and Kevin (the … umm … energetic one) take the stage at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Blossom Music Center. Tickets are $26-$106.50; go to www.livenation.com for more information.

Take yoga, drink wine

Looking for a way to really unwind after a hectic weekend? The Winery at Wolf Creek, 2637 S. Cleveland-Massillon Road, Norton, is hosting Vino & Vinyasa, a yoga class that finishes with a glass of Wolf Creek wine.

The class is at 5 p.m. next Sunday in the Great Room at the winery. It’s $20 and prepaid registration is required. Phone 1-800-436-0426 to reserve. Future classes are scheduled.

Class instructor is Melissa Cugini of Nirvana Yoga in Richfield. No yoga or wine experience is required. Wear comfortable clothing and bring your own yoga mat.

Visit lake homes

Spend a day exploring life on the Portage Lakes during The Lakes 2013, a boat tour of homes Wednesday.

Tour participants will be ferried by boat to five homes and garden, including a lodge that was once the summer home of the Hower family of Hower House fame.

Boats will leave starting at 10 a.m. from Dietz’s Landing, 401 W. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, New Franklin.

Tickets are $45 and are available only in advance. For reservations, call 330-836-5725.

Continue the ‘Before’ series

At 7:30 p.m. Thursday, the Canton Palace Theatre will show Before Midnight, the third in a much-admired series of “before” films starring Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke.

Hawke and Delpy, who are credited as co-writers of the latest film, began playing two people whose lives cross in 1995’s Before Sunrise, then reunited for 2004’s Before Sunset — which was not only made nine years after the previous film, but also set nine years later in the characters’ lives. They are together once again in Before Midnight, also picking up nine years later.

And this may not be the end of the movie trail. According to Movieline, com Before director Richard Linklater has hinted at a fourth film — but “he and his cast didn’t have to think about it for at least another five years or so.”
