Age: 45
Family: Wife, Lisa; four children
Education: University of Akron and Liberty College, bachelor’s and master’s degrees
Years with Brimfield police: 19, nine as chief
Not afraid of change: The chief changed his last name in 2011 from Blough to Oliver. Blough was the name of his adoptive father, who passed away in 2000. He made the switch in honor of his birth father, who passed away when David was 9.
Patriotic: A picture of Gen. George S. Patton hangs over Oliver’s desk. “I’m very partial to my WWII vets,” offered the chief. “We are losing them at record rates.”
Interesting fact: Oliver doesn’t name mopes in his Facebook posts.
“Because I’m sensitive to kids. You know, the old saying — you can pick your nose and your friends, but you can’t pick your parents.”
