Want a chance to try out several local food trucks?
Then head to Norton from 5 to 9 p.m. April 26, where five trucks will be pulling in for a food truck roundup to serve up a variety of cuisines.
The Orange Trük, the Stone Pelican Mobile Cafe, Zydeco Bistro, Wholly Frijoles, and Pig Lickin’ Good BBQ, are taking part. The event will be held in the lot at 3230 Greenwich Road.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and the Battered Women’s Shelter.
Vegan Iron Chef at Aeros
Standing Rock Cultural Arts’ annual Vegan Iron Chef competition will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Akron Aeros stadium, Canal Park, 300 S. Main St., Akron.
The competition kicks off the Who’s Your Mama? Earth Day and Environmental Film Festival. The purpose is to educate the public about the benefits of a vegan diet for the body and the environment.
Eight local chefs will take part, preparing vegan dishes using secret ingredients, and will be judged by local experts. There will be a fruit and vegetable carving display, music and vegan food samples.

Spring brunch at UA is set
The University of Akron’s Hospitality Club will hold its spring brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 28 at the Crystal Room Restaurant, 200 E. Exchange St., Akron.
The menu will include made-to-order omelets, a live pasta station, waffles, bacon, sausage, lemon herb roasted chicken, bourbon-glazed tilapia, hash browns, vegetables, desserts and beverages. Price is $15.95 for adults, $11.95 for seniors and students, $8 for children ages 4 to 10; free for children 3 and younger.
Proceeds will support club members’ educational learning experiences during the semester. The club is made up of UA students who are studying for careers in culinary and hospitality fields.

Save the date for Five Star
Tickets are on sale for one of the Cleveland area’s biggest food events, the Five Star Sensation, which takes place at 7 p.m. June 15, on the grounds of Cuyahoga Community College, Eastern Campus at 4250 Richmond Road, Highland Hills.
Celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck will come to town again for this culinary celebration that benefits the University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center. It will feature food from more than 35 chefs from across the nation and wine from more than 40 vintners.

Dinner and a cause is on
Bricco, 1 W. Exchange St., downtown Akron, will be donating 20 percent of its food sales on April 24 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. to the Autism Society of Greater Akron.
