More than 40 Ohio writers will participate in this year’s Ohio Author Day & Book Fair on Saturday, the third annual event hosted by the Hudson Library & Historical Society.
The event features a panel discussion and book signings. And for the first time this year, a book appraiser will be on hand.
Reference librarian Kathy Jones, who organizes the event with Jody Delamatre, said more authors sought to be a part of the growing event but the library reached its physical limit, with the authors filling meeting spaces and the rotunda.
“We were surprised at the interest in it,” Jones said.
The event begins at 10 a.m. with a panel discussion of writers on the topic Where Fiction Comes From. Moderated by Pauline Chen (author of The Red Chamber), the panel will include Josh Rolnick (Pulp and Paper and winner of the 2011 John Simmons Short Fiction Award); Jean Considine (screenwriter for Doc and Emmy award winner); Varley O’Connor (The Master’s Muse); and Tim Waggoner (Supernatural: Carved in Flesh).
The Book Fair runs from 1-4 p.m., with first floor meeting rooms housing adult authors and the rotunda hosting young adult and children’s authors and illustrators.
The Learned Owl Book Store will be on hand selling many of the titles, and book appraiser Andrea Klein from Akron’s Bookseller Inc. will be available to appraise up to three books per patron.
All the events are free and open to the public. For more information, call 330-653-6653. The library is at 96 Library St.
The event ends National Library Week, which begins today. For a list of other library events this week, visit http://www.hudsonlibrary.org.
